Kaymoor Miners TrailThis New River Gorge hiking trail is among the most strenuous trail that many people will ever hike. Worn a century ago, the miners' trail at Kaymoor falls more than 800 vertical feet from the rim of the gorge to the former site of the community of Kaymoor near the New River, wandering through switchbacks and descending an elaborate staircase of 821 steps. Trails highlights include spectacular views of the gorge and the ruins of the town of Kaymoor and its mine.
Notes: Do not enter abandoned structures in the Kaymoor area.

DirectionsKaymoor Top Trailhead: To reach the trailhead from US-19 at Fayetteville, WV, follow WV-16 south to a left onto Gatewood Road (CR-9). Follow Gatewood two miles to the left onto Kaymoor Top Road (CR-9/2). Follow one mile and bear left into the parking area.
